These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

SAMSUNG - GY 15CS _ TFT-LCD MONITOR_Troubleshooting.





Before troubleshooting, setup the PC's display as below.
  • Resolution:  1024x768.
  • H-Frequency:  48KHz.
  • V-Frequency:  60Hz.
If no picture appears, make sure Power Cord is connected correctly.  
Check the following circuits.
  • No raster appears:  SMPS PCB, Main PCB.
  • 12V develop but no screen:  Main PCB.
  • 12V does not develop: SMPS PCB.
Push and Hold 'EXIT' button for more than 5 seconds, the monitor will return to the factory reset.

TROUBLESHOOTING CHART.

NO POWER

When pin 5 of CN101 {Power On State} is 0V does proper DC 13V, DC3.3V appear at Pin 1,2 & 6,7 of CN101 separately?
No
Change IP board.
Yes



When Pin 1 of IC105 is DC 3.3V does proper DC 2.5V appear at Pin 3 of IC105?
No
Check IC105 and related circuit.
Yes



When Pin 5 of IC 101 is IC 3.3V does proper 3.#V appear at Pin 2,3 of IC 101?

No
Check IC101 and related circuit.
Yes



When Pin 1 of iC403 is DC 12V does proper DC5V appear at Pin 3 of IC403?
No
Check IC403 and related parts.

NO VIDEO

Check the signal cable connection & power first.

Do X301 oscillate properly?
No
Replace or check related circuit.
Yes


Is R,G,B input at R215, R217 & R219?
No
Check input part.
Yes


Does Sync appear at Pin8 and 10 of IC201?
No
Check IC201 and related circuit.
Yes


Is there Sync and Data output: R303, R304, R301, R305 & RA301 ~ RA305, RA311?

Check the power related to IC301 and output part.
Yes


Does the output signal appear at R411 ~ 420?
No
Check LVDS_EN at R302 is high or not. {Normal state is High}
Yes


There are DC 3.3V at Pin 19, 20 of CN401?

Check the IC101 and related circuit.
