These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

SANYO HD PRO SERIES- PLV-55 WHD1 PLV-65 WHD1 SERVICE MODE LAMP REPLACEMENT LCD Projection TV.


TO ENTER SERVICE MODE

  • Press & Hold the "INFO" button on the remote control, then press [Vol (-)] button on the control panel of the TV at its side.  
  • Service mode will be displayed.
ADJUSTMENTS

Adjust the service data using the following control buttons.
  • Channel (Up) => An item number increases.
  • Channel (Dn) => An item number decreases.
  • Point Right or Volume (+) => An adjustment data value increases.
  • Point Left or Volume (-) => And adjustment data value decreases.
To 'Exit" service mode, press the Power ON/OFF button only once on the TV or the remote control.

LAMP REPLACEMENT

When the life of lamp draws to an end, the "Lamp Replace" indicator will become yellow.  If this indicator turns to yellow, replace the lamp with new one.
  1. Turn OFF the TV and disconnect AC plug.  Allow TV to cool for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Press the latches on the both sides of the front cover and pull the front cover forward to remove.
  3. Loosen screw that secure the Lamp Cover with a screwdriver and remove the Lamp Cover.
  4. Loosen the two screws that secure lamp with a screwdriver and pull out the Lamp by holding the holes on both side.
  5. Replace the Lamp with new one and put it back and tighten the two fixing screws.  Make sure that the Lamp is correctly secured into the Lamp Compartment.
  6. Put the Lamp Cover back and tighten the screw, and then replace the front cover.  
  7. Connect AC power cord to the power cord connector and turn on the TV.
  8. Reset the Lamp Replace Counter.  
LAMP REPLACE COUNTER RESET.

REPLACEMENT LAMP TYPE AND NUMBER:  POA-LMP96.  Service Part number (610 322 7382)  TV set Models [PLV-55WHD1 _ PLV-65WHD1]
  • Press "Menu" key to display Main Menu.
  • Use the cursor [Up] or [Dn] keys to highlight (Green) Lamp Counter Reset and press "Enter".
  • User cursor [Dn] key to select (yes), and press "Enter".
  • Press 'Exit" to return to normal viewing. 
NB:  Do not replace Lamp Reset Counter without implementation of lamp replacement.  Be sure to reset the Lamp replacement counter, only after replacing the Lamp.  The lamp counter cannot be reset even if you press the 'reset' key on the remote control.

TO CHECK LAMP USED TIME
  1. Press & Hold the "INFO" button on the remote control, and press (CH +) button on the side control of the TV.
  2. The LCD projection TV used time, and Lamp used time will be displayed on the screen briefly.
  • The Lamp Replace Indicator will light Yellow when the total lamp used time reaches[7980 Hours].  This is to indicate the lamp replacement is required.  The total lamp use time is calculated by using the below expression 
  • Lamp Used Time = Tceo + Tnormal * 1.14. (where Tceo > used time in Lamp mode "low"; Tnormal > used time in Lamp mode "high & Mid".
