REPAIRING AND NOT THROWING AWAY

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.

These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Happy repairing!

Many repairmen had to deal with the typical malfunction of some models of LG TVs when he loses the channel setting.

The defect may appear periodically at first, but in the end there comes a time when tuning to digital and analogue channels becomes impossible.

This is often caused by a malfunction of the TDTJ-S001D tuner (p / n EBL60721201), which can be installed on the LG TV models listed below:

Also, the TDTJ-S001D tuner can be used in plasma TVs, in the models:

The appearance of the tuner is already familiar to many and is presented in the figure below.
Tuner TDTJ-S001D
In most cases, replacing this tuner with a new one is completely optional and its performance is easily restored in an equipped workshop.
The tuner should be removed using a soldering station. In order to prevent damage to the tuner or the motherboard, we do not recommend soldering it using only a soldering iron and a spring "suction".
The defect is usually caused by broken contact connections in solders, as in many tuners of the good old CRT TVs LG, Samsung, Sony and Toshiba, which experienced masters remember well and have long been accustomed to their malfunctions and glitches.

The recovery technology is simple.
The conclusions of the metal partitions and the side connections to the body can be soldered using a soldering iron. Soldering joints of small planar elements in most cases is not necessary. The main thing is to replace the solder under the square microcircuit, which is without legs (on the underside of the tuner board).
Next, we wash off the flux residues, solder the tuner in place and make sure that all channels are tuned and working.

For experienced repairmen - no problem.
In no case do not recommend this to users of televisions that do not have the necessary equipment and sufficient repair experience.

Attempts to independently remove the tuner often end in replacing the motherboard, the cost of which can be unexpectedly expensive for the owner of the TV.
A file is distributed on the Internet in which an experienced telemaster recommends pouring the tuner with epoxy.
In our opinion, this procedure is completely redundant and can only complicate the situation during subsequent tuner repairs.
