General repair guidelines for TV LCD LED
Possible malfunctions
- SAMSUNG UE40H6230 does not turn on and does not show any signs of performance at all. Does not blink indicators and does not respond to control buttons.
In some of these cases, a fault is detected in the BN44-00709A power supply module. It is then necessary to measure its output voltages and, if they are absent, you should check the power switches and rectifier diodes of the converters for the probability of short circuit.
In case of any breakdown of semiconductors in the secondary circuits, the converter can usually work normally in emergency short circuit mode. There are no output voltages. And during short circuit in the power elements of the primary circuit, as a rule, the mains fuse breaks and less often the current sensor at the source of the key.
Mos-Fet keys used in switching power supplies usually fail due to a malfunction of other elements that can put it out of operation in key mode or provoke an excess of the maximum current or voltage. These can be circuits supplying the PWM controller, damping or frequency-setting circuits, or elements of OOS (negative feedback) in the stabilization circuit. PWM controllers (PWM) S3051 (PFC), FA6A01N (FA5760N), in the absence of external damage and short circuit between the terminals, are checked by replacing with obviously good ones.
- There is no image, there is sound, there is a reaction to the remote control. Or immediately after turning on for a second, the image may appear and immediately disappear.
A malfunction is usually most likely in these cases at the backlight nodes of the display matrix. The reason for this may be a break in the LED circuit, or a problem in stabilizing their power supply.
It is impossible to check the LED line for breaks without disassembling the panel with a multimeter or tester. For these purposes, it is necessary to open all series-connected PN junctions and a voltage of the order of tens of volts will be required, and ideally, a current source. Having disassembled the panel, it is necessary to check each LED separately. Chinese multimeters, as a rule, light up a single 3-volt LED in the forward direction. In the case of using dual 6-volt LEDs, the PN junction of its protective zener diode can serve as an indicator of serviceability. In faulty LEDs, the zener diode will either be cut off or broken into short-circuit.
- The indicator on the front panel blinks, the TV does not turn on in the operating mode, it does not respond to the remote control.
Repair or diagnostics of the BN41-02156A motherboard should begin by checking the stabilizers and power converters needed to power the chips and matrix. If necessary, update or replace the software (software). Board repair and replacement of CPU chips: SEMS31; SPI Flash: 25Q40CL; EEPROM: S24C512; SOUND: NTP7414 are manufactured with the necessary equipment, and the corresponding element base. Faults associated with the application of BGA processor soldering technologies can be localized by the heating method.
If there is no reception of television channels, but the TV is working properly from external devices, first of all, check the voltage of the tuner BN40-00288A and update the software. The pulses from the I2C bus must be controlled with an oscilloscope.
It should be remembered! Attempts to self-repair a SAMSUNG UE40H6230 TV, in the absence of the necessary qualifications and experience, are categorically not recommended and are fraught with negative consequences, up to the complete non-repairability of the device!

Main features of the SAMSUNG UE40H6230 device:
Installed matrix (LED panel) CY-GH040CSLV1V.
To power the backlight LEDs, a converter is used, combined with a power supply, controlled by a 7014X PWM controller.
The necessary supply voltages for all nodes of the SAMSUNG UE40H6230 TV are generated by the BN44-00709A power module, or its analogs using S3051 (PFC), FA6A01N (FA5760N) microcircuits.
MainBoard - the main board (motherboard) is a BN41-02156A module, using CPU chips: SEMS31; SPI Flash: 25Q40CL; EEPROM: S24C512; SOUND: NTP7414 and others.
The tuner BN40-00288A provides the reception of television programs and tuning to channels.

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....
If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.
These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.
While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.
