REPAIRING AND NOT THROWING AWAY

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.

These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Happy repairing!

General recommendations for TV LCD LED repair
Possible malfunctions
- SONY KDL-43WF665 does not turn on and does not show any signs of operability at all. Does not blink indicators and does not respond to control buttons.
In such cases, you should start looking for a fault in the adapter power supply circuits.
An external power supply Adapter AC / DC 19.5V is not always subject to repair, especially since the owner can purchase it on his own. But, in some cases, it makes sense to open it and eliminate simple typical defects inherent in converters in pulse sources. Its output voltages should be measured and, in their absence, the serviceability of the power switches and rectifier diodes in the converters should be checked for possible breakdown.
In case of breakdowns in the secondary circuits, the converter, as a rule, can operate in an emergency in the short-circuit mode, and in the event of a short circuit in the power elements of the primary circuit, the mains fuse usually breaks off.
Breakdown of power switches (MosFet) in switching sources is sometimes caused by malfunctions of other circuit elements, for example, in the circuits supplying the PWM controller, frequency setting or damper, as well as in the circuits of Negative Feedback (OOS) stabilization. PWM controllers (PWM), if they do not have visible damage to the case and an outright short circuit between the terminals, are usually checked by replacement.
- There is no image, the screen is black, there is sound, sometimes you can see barely noticeable outlines of the image in the ambient light of the screen.
In such cases, a malfunction of the LED panel backlighting elements is most likely. Often the cause of a malfunction is the lack of current in the LED circuit, for example, their open or short circuit, or a violation of the contact connections of the connectors.
It should be remembered that it is not possible to determine an open circuit in the LED lines without disassembling the panels using a tester or multimeter without an additional device, for example, a current source. To open all PN junctions connected in series at once, a voltage of several tens of volts may be required. Then you need to open the panel and check each LED separately with a multimeter. If the capabilities of your multimeter do not allow opening the LED in the forward direction or dual LEds are used, then the PN transition of the emergency zener diode can indirectly serve as an indicator of serviceability. In the event of a malfunction of the LED-a, the PN-junction of the zener diode will either be cut off or broken into the K / Z.
- The TV does not go into operation, does not respond to the remote control. The indicator on the front panel is on or blinking.

In cases where SONY KDL-43WF665 does not have an image, but there is sound, the display backlight often does not work.
In LED TVs, the LEDs inside the NS8S430CN001 panel are usually faulty, and less often the LED driver.
Without backlighting, sometimes you can see a barely noticeable image with a certain successful hit of external light on the screen.
Replacing the LEDs requires disassembling the NS8S430CN001 panel. We do not recommend such works on their own to TV owners and craftsmen who have no experience in repairing LCD panels, especially at home.
If there is no image, and the backlight is on, the screen becomes slightly lighter when turned on, and on an open TV, the light is visible through the holes in the panel case.
In this case, the T-CON (Timing Controller) board may be faulty, but often the MainBoard 1-982-629-11 is also faulty. A software failure is also possible. The panel may also be faulty - damage to strips, loops, for example, after moisture ingress. In such cases, first of all, it is necessary to check the panel supply voltage at the LVDS connector, the fuses on the T-CON board or panel brackets, as well as the supply and reference voltages for column and line drivers - VGH, VGL, Vcom.
If they are within the normal range, then the oscilloscope must track the passage of LVDS signals from MainBoard 1-982-629-11, as well as synchronizing signals to the loops with drivers.
Flooded LED TV screens can sometimes be restored if no significant damage has formed in the loops and on the panel trims.

Repair or diagnostics of the motherboard 1-982-629-11 should begin with checking the stabilizers and power converters necessary to power the microcircuits and matrix. If necessary, you should update or replace the software (software). Often the MB (SSB) board must be replaced in case of complex malfunctions that are difficult to detect. When trying to repair it, you should check its elements - CPU: MT5581SSEJ and replace the failed chips with new ones. Some malfunctions may be associated with the use of BGA soldering technologies in modern Main Board. Typically, such defects are detected by local heating of the chip.
If there is no reception of TV channels, but the TV is working properly from external devices, first of all, you need to check the power supply voltage of the CE251ZP tuner and update the software. I2C communication pulses must be monitored with an oscilloscope.
Owners and users of the SONY KDL-43WF665 TV should remember that self-repair without special knowledge, skills and qualifications can be fraught with negative consequences that can lead to complete non-repairability of the device!
