General repair guidelines for TV LCD LED
Diagnostics of malfunctions and repairs SAMSUNG UE40D5000PW, as well as other electronic devices, it is recommended to start with an external examination of the external and internal elements. According to some external signs of a change in the state of some elements, it is sometimes possible to make assumptions about the nature of the defect, as well as determine the further direction of the troubleshooting. Experienced repairmen are often aware of the causes of the defect and the possible consequences, for example, from ring cracks in the soldering of the leads of the elements, as well as from swollen capacitors or resistors burnt to coal dust and other external indirect signs.
If the UE40D5000PW TV does not turn on, does not make any sounds when it is turned on, and also no indicators on the front panel light or blink - there is a high probability of a malfunction in the power module. In some cases, only the stabilizer or power converter of the control processor may be faulty, which is typical for some SAMSUNG models. In the absence of swollen filter capacitors of the secondary rectifiers, the diagnostics of the power supply should be started by checking the fuse and, if it is broken, it is first necessary to check all the power semiconductor elements of the primary circuit - diodes and transistors for the possibility of an avalanche or thermal breakdown.
If a breakdown of the power switch is detected, it should be remembered that in a switching power supply (IIP) it does not fail by itself for no reason that you should look for by checking other elements of the primary circuit - electrolytic capacitors, a PWM controller, which can only be checked replacement, as well as other semiconductor elements (diodes, transistors, zener diodes).
If there is no image when you turn on the SAMSUNG UE40D5000PW, or it appears for a second and disappears, but there is sound, most likely there is a malfunction in the backlight LED circuit of the LD400BGC-C2 DD01 panel, or in their power converter. It is necessary to check the electrolytic capacitors of the filter of the secondary rectifiers in the general power supply unit.
To check the health of the LEDs, as well as contact connections in the ruler circuit, it is necessary to disassemble the panel.
An open in the LED lines connected in series cannot be detected with a multimeter or tester without disassembling the panel. To open all the transitions, several tens of volts are needed, and it is best to use a current source for such purposes.
If the motherboard BN94-05223D PD02 is faulty, first of all it is necessary to check all the linear stabilizers or power converters of its chips, and also, if necessary, update the software. Sometimes you can check the health of MB only by replacement.
Before replacing the tuner BN40-00196A, if there is no tuning to the channels, you must first check the supply voltage at its terminals, including the power supply of varicaps (30-33V).
Once again, we remind TV users: you should not make attempts to repair it yourself without the appropriate knowledge, experience and the necessary qualifications! Trust the repair only to professionals with sufficient experience in the field of repair of electronic equipment !!!!!!!!!

PSU Advanced
The power module BN44-00422B is made using the Power Factor Correction (PFC) scheme to eliminate multiple AC harmonics introduced into the power supply by the device. The PFC node is a Step-Up Converter based on the FA5591N PWM controller that evenly distributes high-frequency pulses of the charging current of the electrolytic capacitor of the rectifier filter of the mains voltage over a period of 50 Hz. The current of its charge in this case will already be determined not by its reactance (usually 10-30 ohms for the network frequency), but by the elements of the converter. As a result, a change in the amplitude of the pulses (envelope) of the consumed current of the converter will repeat the shape and phase of the input sinusoidal voltage. The availability of the increased voltage (about + 380V) in the operating mode on the capacitor of the line filter indicates the serviceability of the PFC node.
The appearance of the power supply
Main features of the SAMSUNG UE40D5000PW device:
Installed matrix (LED panel) LD400BGC-C2 DD01 or LTJ400HM07-L.
The matrix control uses the Timing Controller (T-CON) V460HJ1-C01.
To power the backlight LEDs, a converter is used, combined with a power supply unit, controlled by the SLC3011M PWM controller. As the power elements of the LED driver, keys of the type NDF05N50ZG are used.
The necessary supply voltages for all nodes of the SAMSUNG UE40D5000PW TV are generated by the BN44-00422B power supply module or its analogs using the FA5591N (PFC), ICE3BR1765JZ (Standby), ICE1HS01G (PWM resonant) microcircuits and power switches of the TK8A50D (PFC x05, NFC) type .
MainBoard - the main board (motherboard) is a BN41-01661B module, using K4B1G1646G-BCH9, WT61P805, NTP-7411S and others.
The tuner BN40-00196A provides the reception of television programs and tuning to channels.

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.
These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.
While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.
